Taxes

North Carolina ranks as the 44th in Tax Foundation's State Business Tax Climate Index because of taxes. The first Republican North Carolina Legislature since reconstruction has done a great job balancing the budget, but there is far more to do. Taxes have to be reduced and to keep the budget balanced, spending has to be reduced as well.

For every dollar collected in taxes, that is one dollar that is taken out of productive North Carolinian's pockets and that means they cannot spend it and help create more production among their neighbors. Regardless of the method of collection of taxes, the higher the taxes, the more it hurts the economy and reduces the amount of goods produces which means that the standard of living is reduced (people become poorer).
